Admissions
Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf is a private non-profit school recognized by the Florida Department of Education. Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs and athletic and other school-administered programs.
All potential students are evaluated, prior to admission, by our Blossom teaching staff and our Blossom partners. At Blossom we want to make sure that we are able to meet the individualized needs of each child we accept in order to provide them the very best education. In some cases, if we believe Blossom is not the best placement for a child, we will make recommendations to the family about alternative education choices that may be better suited to their needs.
Blossom parents and families are responsible for their child’s school year tuition & fees. There are many state/county scholarship programs available to Florida students which can help with the cost of academic tuition. The school also relies on private donations, foundations, corporations and service groups to fulfill the balance in funding associated with the high level of services and programs we offer our students.
Some of Blossom’s students are eligible for a Step Up for Students Florida Empowerment Scholarship for Unique Abilities: SUFS FES-UA (formerly McKay’s Scholarship / Gardiners Special Needs Scholarship), a program provided by the State of Florida for children with disabilities, ages 3 through 12th grade or 22 years of age, who have spent a minimum of one year in a Florida public school and have an IEP or 504 Plan -and/or- have a formal written diagnosis by a Florida Physician for a specific unique ability approved by Step Up for Students.
Other private school scholarships for students who are Florida residents, in grades Kindergarten through 12th Grade, and meet eligibility are the Step Up for Students Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options: SUFS FES-EO; the Step Up for Students Florida Tax Credit Scholarship: SUFS FTC; and the Step Up for Students Hope Scholarship: SUFS Hope.
The Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas County School Readiness Scholarship: ELC SR offers income-based assistance for full time Preschool programs and/or part time School Age Before & After Care Programs, to families who meet eligibility.
