Support Blossom Montessori’s Recovery from Hurricane Damage

Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf is a small non-profit school located in Clearwater, Florida that has been servicing the Deaf community for 22 years. Our school is open to children ages three to twelve years old who are deaf or hard of hearing, are CODA’s (Children of Deaf Adults) and hearing siblings. Our curriculum is Montessori based, which offers a hands-on approach to learning at each students individual academic level. Our classroom sizes are small, only going up to 10 students per class, making it ideal for one -on-one lessons and small group learning.

During Hurricane Milton we suffered significant water damage throughout the entire school. We learned quickly that all our walls & flooring would need to be taken out and replaced. We also lost all our bookshelves in our library and a majority throughout the classrooms. We lost most our sensory materials used for our therapies. Due to the damage of the school, it is unusable right now. Our students have been displaced, but we have been fortunate enough to have our local library open their doors to us and allow us to use a small back classroom, all of us together, Little House on the Prairie style.

The cost to repair the school will be over $200,000, and that is not including all the furniture and classroom items that were lost and need to be replaced. A very large number for our small non-profit. The financial distress is mounting, but we know that with community support we can have our school back up and functioning in no time! We would be eternally grateful for assistance in replacing the items lost in the classrooms, multipurpose room & library.

We thank you in advance for your kindness and support of our school and helping to ensure all of our precious students ‘blossom’.
